Football Party Play

As the 2016 football season comes to a close, we’d like to remind you that it’s never too early to begin planning tailgating/football watch parties for next year. If anything, the planning will help fill the void left by the end of football season. Whether it’s a fantasy league draft or a major playoff game, we’ve come up with a play-by-play of ideas for any and all of your 2017 sports parties for you to follow to guarantee a good time.

Food

  1. Football Snack Stadium

It may be a little over-the-top but most good football fans usually are, aren’t they? How can you not get in the game day spirit with this football snack stadium? It’s almost too awesome to eat!

  1. Watermelon Helmet Fruit Display

If you’re trying to incorporate some healthy snacks into your party, how about a watermelon carved to look like a football helmet with various fruits popping out? Don’t worry, we’ve got your how-to video right here.

Drinks

  1. Beer

Beer is a pretty standard game day beverage and chances are, you and your guests will be throwing them back pretty frequently. Make a few of these AstroTurf coozies to keep everyone’s beer cold throughout the party.

  1. Jello Shots

If you and your friends plan to get real rowdy, create jello shots with your team’s colors! Simple enough, but super festive and will add to the party’s theme.

  1. Sports themed cocktails

Since we’re still in the colder months with a few days left of this year’s football season, we chose this Tailgate Toddy for a warm game day cocktail.

Décor

  1. Invites

If you’re going so far as to send out actual invitations for your party, use a game ticket as a theme for your invites!

  1. Color Scheme

Obviously, you want to use plenty of colors to reflect your favorite team’s scheme in your décor, be it balloons, streamers, pompoms, etc. If you want friends that root for the opposing team to show, maybe offer them a measly pompom for their team… Up to you!

Games

  1. Corn Hole

Corn hole is a pretty much a given game day game, but lately people have been customizing their boards to reflect their favorite team, which helps amp up guests.

  1. Beer Pong

This one falls under both décor and games. If you’re playing a drinking game like beer pong or flip cup, why not decorate the table to look like a football field? You just need a green table cloth / green felt, some white construction paper and die-cut numbers!
